An Energy Audit is the identification, analysis and determination of the energy efficiency of your equipment, electricity and fuel supplies, and process control systems. Enerconsult, as your energy auditor, will start at the utility and fuel meters and will proceed to account for all the energy sources and users at your facility. Upon analyzing a minimum of one-year bills, Enerconsult will enter the pertinent information into its central database for benchmarking using expected industry averages. After these data is processed, the results will be audited against contractual electric rates and fuel prices to ensure that the invoicing was correctly computed and no overcharges exist.  Enerconsult   analytical team will perform verifications such as if the Owner’s facilities are served by “free” sources (municipalities or IPPs, which are not governed by any state or federal regulatory body, and are free to set rates). A typical evaluation conducted by an allied partner is provided in “Inspection Report of Evaluation of Electric & Gas Service and HVAC Unit in New York Multi-Unit Condominium” (see Articles).

After identifying all participants and performing further measurements on the energy supplies and processes, Enerconsult will evaluate the conditions of these systems. Then, the impacts of possible improvements to those systems are analyzed. The audit will quantify the energy use and losses through a comprehensive review and analysis of equipment, operational characteristics and on-site measurements and testing. Then, Enerconsult will write up the Energy Audit  Report containing economical analyses   of the efficiencies, and energy and cost savings, based on the proposed improvements and changes.

The Owner may require more specific recommendations. Enerconsult can perform Industrial Assessments to identify, evaluate, and recommend opportunities to conserve energy, minimize waste, and improve productivity by conducting field inspections to industrial, commercial, institutional and multi-unit residential locations. After the visit, Enerconsult will discuss in detail with Owner his main needs and concerns. Enerconsult’s assessments will provide fresh “eyes” and insights into commonplace practices, bringing to discussion present procedures that might be improved or changed.

A report containing specific and quantitative recommendations of cost savings, energy conservation, waste minimization, and productivity improvements for the visited installations will be provided together with a plan to implement the assessment’s recommendations. All the assumptions and equations used for the report will be furnished. The data and assumptions used in evaluating the equations are conservative. During the Owner’s review, the calculations can be enhanced to adjust the plant’s specific experience and practices.

After the assessments are approved and funded by the Owner, Enerconsult can provide the basic engineering and coordination required to engage further services from detailed design firms, vendors and integrators. These firms will perform the engineering, procurement, construction and start-up tasks under Enerconsult’s management.
